Today, softly, the body offers the tender first small surrendering — loosening her grip on what she cannot control, and letting herself be held by something larger than her own effort.
The sacred twelfth morning brings the newly-begun cycle to a soft pause before the Full Moon. The nearly full Moon swims through Pisces, the sign of the ocean, of compassion, of letting go. It is Thursday, Jupiter’s own day, and Pisces is Jupiter’s traditional sign, so the planet of grace and generosity is honored twice.
Surrendering is not, faithfully, giving up. She is the brave release of the struggle to control every outcome, and the discovery that something wider and kinder is holding you. Today is also the Sun’s last day in Libra before he enters Scorpio tomorrow. The affirmation names the practice: let go a little, and see what holds you.
Today, I give thanks for the times I let go and was held — the help that came when I stopped trying to do it all, the grace that arrived when I finally rested, the doors that opened when I stopped pushing.
Many of the turning points in a life come not from effort but from release: the moment we stopped fighting a situation and saw it differently, the day we asked for help, the night we finally slept. Today’s gratitude is for those moments of grace.
The chronic cultural pull is to treat surrender as defeat — to believe that strength means never letting go, and that everything depends on our own effort. Today’s gratitude honors the older wisdom of the sea: the water holds the swimmer who stops thrashing.
Today’s Hanged Man carries this exactly — the sacred first-suspended-mother resting upside down from a living tree, one foot gently held by the branch and the other leg bent softly behind it, her arms folded at ease behind her back, her face calm and unafraid, a soft golden halo glowing around her head, small green leaves budding on the tree above, a sprig of lavender woven into the branch. She is not trapped. She has chosen to be still, and the stillness has opened her eyes.
The rare embodied capacity for tender feminine surrender — the body who can, softly, release her grip on outcomes, rest in what she cannot control, and discover the peace that comes from being held.
The nearly full Moon in Pisces on Jupiter’s own Thursday brings a particular invitation to the body: notice where you are gripping. Clenched hands, a tight jaw, shoulders lifted toward the ears, a mind that keeps rehearsing — these are the body’s ways of trying to control what may not be ours to control.
Jupiter is the planet of faith and generosity, and Pisces is the sign of the ocean that holds all things. With the Moon in Jupiter’s sign on Jupiter’s day, the sky is unusually gentle — a good day to trust that you do not have to carry everything alone. The Moon’s water-trine to Venus and Mercury in Scorpio adds tenderness and honesty to the release.
The newly-begun cycle carries, faithfully, its words so far: kindling → meeting → claiming → seeking → hoping → grounding → steadying → resolving → belonging → envisioning → intuiting → surrendering. Intuition pointed the way; now the body lets the current carry her.
Today asks the body one small practice: allow one small surrendering. One small worry set down. One small outcome released. One small moment of letting yourself be held.

Today the nearly full Moon swims through Pisces, Jupiter’s own water sign, on Jupiter’s own Thursday. She keeps her flowing water-trine to Venus and Mercury in Scorpio. The Sun spends his last day in Libra before crossing into Scorpio tomorrow. The light is almost full — a day to loosen your grip and let yourself be carried.

Nearly full Moon in Pisces on Jupiter-dayand the sacred geometry of the body’s tender first small surrendering
The waxing gibbous Moon, now around 86–93% illuminated, travels through the early and middle degrees of Pisces today. The Sun rests at Libra 29°, the last degree of the sign, and crosses into Scorpio early tomorrow morning. The Full Moon follows a few days later, rising round and bright in the eastern sky at dusk.
Thursday belongs to Jupiter, and Pisces is the sign Jupiter ruled in traditional astrology before Neptune was discovered. The day carries a doubled Jupiter quality: generosity, faith, mercy, and the sense of being part of something vast. The Moon continues her harmonious water-trine to Venus, still retrograde in Scorpio, and Mercury, who turns retrograde this Saturday. Emotions run deep, but they flow rather than flood.
Somatically: a nearly full Moon in Pisces can bring a heightened sensitivity — tears close to the surface, dreams that linger, a longing for rest or quiet. The small heaviness that asks you to lie down, the small release of breath when you stop holding on, the small sense of being held by water, by bed, by earth. This is a good day for baths, naps, music, and early nights.
The sacred art the body practices today: not collapse, not control, just tender surrendering. The Hanged Man teaches this exactly — the sacred first-suspended-mother resting upside down from a living tree, one foot gently held by the branch and the other leg bent softly behind it, her arms folded at ease behind her back, her face calm and unafraid, a soft golden halo glowing around her head, small green leaves budding on the tree above, a sprig of lavender woven into the branch. Upside down, she sees what she could not see before.

Let nothing disturb you,
let nothing frighten you;
all things are passing.
Patience obtains all things.
— Teresa of Ávila
Teresa of Ávila — born in Ávila, Spain, in 1515; who entered a Carmelite convent at about twenty and, after years of illness and inner struggle, became one of the great mystics of Christian history; who traveled the roads of Spain founding new, simpler convents for women devoted to prayer; who wrote The Interior Castle (1577), describing the soul as a castle of many rooms with the divine at its center; and who died in 1582 — left these words in a short verse found in her prayer book after her death. In 1970 she became the first woman named a Doctor of the Church.
Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you; all things are passing. Patience obtains all things. The verse continues by saying that whoever holds to the divine lacks nothing. Teresa lived through great upheaval — illness, opposition, long and difficult journeys — and these lines are her distilled wisdom: storms pass, and steadiness comes from letting go of what cannot be held. In Spanish it begins “Nada te turbe,” and it has been sung and prayed for more than four centuries.
Today’s Sacred First-Surrendering lives in Teresa’s words directly. The suspended-mother of the Hanged Man is not disturbed by her stillness. She knows this moment, too, is passing, and that patience will bring what struggle could not.
What are you gripping tightly right now — a worry, an outcome, a plan — and what might you see differently if you let yourself hang still for a moment, like the suspended-mother, and looked at it from upside down?
Sometimes the tender first small surrendering does not open easily. Letting go can feel unsafe, especially if life has taught you that things fall apart when you stop holding them together. The body’s soft first-surrendering may feel like risk.
Three softer entry-points into today’s question, each honoring the body’s own faithful pace:
- Grip door: write down one thing you are trying to control. Then write one small part of it you could release, just for today.
- Upside-down door: describe a current challenge from the point of view of someone who loves you. What do they see that you might be missing?
- Held door: write about a time when you let go and something or someone caught you.
The tender first small surrendering of the sacred first-suspended-mother — five small acts of soft feminine release, honored as the whole holy work of this sacred twelfth morning of the newly-begun cycle, on Jupiter’s own venerated Thursday.
Today’s medicine begins with letting the body be supported. Lying down and releasing your weight is the simplest form of surrender. It tells the nervous system that it does not have to hold itself up right now.
The body often clings without our knowing it. Finding and softening each place of holding is how surrender becomes physical. Teresa’s teaching lives here: let nothing disturb you, starting with your own shoulders.
This gentle inversion echoes the Hanged Man’s upside-down view. It calms the body, eases the legs, and offers a literal new perspective — the world seen from a different angle.
The Moon in Pisces on Jupiter’s day favors faith over force. Releasing one worry into imagined water is a small act of trust that the outcome does not depend on your gripping.
The closing whisper seals the practice. Nothing further is required today — the small first-surrendering allowed here is, faithfully, the whole practice, complete on its own tender terms, blessed by the Hanged Man’s suspended-mother on the twelfth morning, as the nearly full Moon swims in Pisces.
